Ya está disponible la página oficial del próximo Festival Internacional de Poesía de San Francisco, que se realizará del 22 al 27 de julio de 2009, y en el cual participaré como poeta y bailarina. Me emocioné al ver que en la lista de poetas, a continuación de mi nombre está el de Diane di Prima, reconocida poeta de la generación beat que hace poco sucedió a mi querido Jack para convertirse en la nueva Laureat Poet de SF. Diane es autora de 44 libros de poesía y prosa, ha sido traducido en más de 20 lenguas, y una edición ampliada de sus Cartas Revolucionarias fue recientemente publicada. Hace poco comentaba que Diane es una de las artistas que me hubiese gustado conocer a fondo en mi viaje anterior, ya que cuando estuve por esos lares ella se encontraba un poco delicada de salud, así que tenía la esperanza de encontrarla en este nuevo viaje, lo que no sabía es que tendría el honor de compartir micrófono junto a ella y junto a otros tantos que no dejan para nada indiferente, como el mismo Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Neeli Chercovski, Agneta Falk, Alejandro Murguía, etc..Y en cuanto a los poetas extranjeros, definitivamente la que más me emociona es Ambar Past, de la que espero hablar pronto, pero como adelanto, para quien no lo sepa, Ambar me encanta. Es poeta, ensayista, transcriptora, traductora, artista gráfica, diseñadora de libros-arte, editora, ecóloga, madre y mujer. De ascendencia polaca y cherokee, nació en 1949 en los EUA;y emigró a México cuando tenía mi edad, 23 años, donde adquierió la nacionalidad mexicana en 1985. Radica en Chiapas desde hace más de tres décadas, principalmente en parajes rurales donde aprendió el tsotsil maya. Fue becaria y alumna del poeta Jaime Sabines. Ha sabido recopilar gran parte de la poesía oral de las mujeres mayas. Y si digo que me emocioné es porque tanto la respeto y me gusta su visión frente a la vida que incluso desde mucho antes, en un poema mío llamado Pertenencias (de Va por cuenta del destino) la menciono. Y ahora Ambar no sólo conocerá mi poema sino que lo escuchará de mi propia boca.
